Heath - You don't need to be a member of M&H to visit before 11pm, just give them a call early evening to book a table. Your best bet is early in the week but I've booked a table on Saturday night at a few hours notice without any trouble before.

Aside from there, I would head to Notting Hill for Portobello Star, Trailer Happiness, The Lonsdale and Montgomery Place - all within stumbling distance of one another and all excellent.

Finally, don't let my review of Claridge's put you off, there are plenty of decent hotel bars - The Dorchester and The Connaught two of my favourites and shouldn't disappoint. I've not been to the Blue Bar yet but I'm hoping to make it there next weekend so look out for a review soon(ish).

Argh. Milk and Honey doesn't put Americans on their waiting list for membership, which means I will spend all my time in London next month pining for somewhere I can't go.

And the recent hotel bar reviews at Oh Gosh! have left me uninspired about London--I'm hoping for a better review of the Blue Bar, at The Berkeley, where I'll be staying.

Any London bar recommendations other than the ones mentioned here, Jeff?

What do they do with the ice ball once they have it? It seems too big for a drink from the pic.

And more importantly, did the elixirs inside your suitcase survive intact? What a drag. Good thing it got there before Iceland.

Jamie, here is a link to find the ice ball maker you seemed to like, I found it after reading an article about the Tokyo bar scene. Thanks for the great site, cheers!

If I didn't like you so much, I'd hate you, Morgenthaler. That sounds like an incredible night, even if everyone around you had to put up with your pong.
